1.     Can I try the club before I become a member?

The Spencer Health Club is a private members club however we can, by appointment, organise a free trial visit. We also recommend that you take the opportunity to speak to our existing members and find out why the Spencer Health Club is the leading Health Club in the IFSC.

2.     What is included in the membership fee?

Membership of the Spencer Health Club includes,

·        Use of our fully equipped gymnasium with over 50 pieces of equipment.

·        Flexibility Zone.

·        Fitness Studio with over 25 complimentary classes including spinning, body pump and RIP 60 Suspension Training.

·        Complimentary towels on each visit.

·        Complimentary fruit and tea/coffee on each visit

·        Comfortable changing areas including complimentary shower gel and body wash.

·        18 Metre heated indoor swimming pool.

·        Sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi.

·        Fully personalised fitness assessment and training programme with re assessment every 4-6 weeks.

·        Regular social events for members.

·        10% discount on personal training and 1 to 1 swim instruction

·        10% discount in East Restaurant

3.     How can I pay for my membership?

A choice of 3, 6 or 12 month up-front payment or monthly subscriptions by direct debit are available.

4.     How do I work out the cost of being a member of the Spencer Health Club?

It's a simple formula. Ask yourself how many times a week you are going to visit the club and divide that by the monthly cost. There are no negative costs to making health and fitness part of your lifestyle. Don't forget to factor in all the benefits of membership! You control the value of your gym membership, we make sure you enjoy it.

5.     How long is the membership contract for?

Unlike many other clubs, The Spencer Health Club does NOT ask you to sign a 12 month contract with our minimum commitment being 3 months. 

6.     How much notice do I need to give if I wish to cancel?

As we do not have a 12 month contract we ask for 1 months’ notice to cancel, unless it is due to medical/redundancy reasons in which case immediate cancellation is possible if supported with documentation. The 1 month notice period is clearly highlighted in the terms and conditions of your membership agreement.

7.     Can I join for 1 month?

We offer a one month short term membership which costs €80.00

Can someone else use my membership keyring?

Under no circumstances can someone else use your membership keyring. When you join we will take a digital photo of you which the reception staff can see when you check in. Anyone found to have given their keyring to someone else to use will have their membership cancelled

8.     Is there a minimum number required for classes to go ahead?

Yes there must be a minimum of 3 people for classes to proceed.

9.     What are the opening hours for the Spencer Health Club?

We open from 6am – 9.30pm Monday to Friday and 8am – 7.30pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

10.  What is a fitness appointment? Why do I need one? 

A fitness appointment comes highly recommended. Here is how it works - You will have a consultation with one of our fitness team. You will then take a health screening, explain your specific goals for the near future fitness wise, as well as your exercise history and your preferred workout duration. Based on all this information, your trainer will design a programme of exercises tailored to meet your above requirements. This will generally involve cardiovascular exercises, resistance, core and stretching exercises and possibly some group exercise classes. Your instructor will then review your programme every 6-8 weeks upon your request to ensure you are happy and achieving the results you want.

11.  I have less than an hour to spend in the gym... Is this enough? 

Yes. We will tailor your personalised programme to suit your needs, including the workout time you have available.

13.  I have less than an hour to spend in the gym... Is this enough? 

Yes. We will tailor your personalised programme to suit your needs, including the workout time you have available.

14.  I want to train for a marathon/triathlon. Is there someone who can help me with this?

Yes, we have many instructors with training and experience in these specific disciplines who will give you all the information you need to train for your big event.

15.  Can I start weights straight away? 

Yes, we cater for all levels, from beginner to elite levels. If you have not used weights before it is wise make an appointment for an instructor to show you correct technique.

16.  What do I need to wear in the Fitness Theatre? 

Wear something that you find comfortable to exercise in. Runners are essential and should be worn with shorts or tracksuit bottoms and a comfortable T-shirt or suitable training top.

17.  What is the temperature of the pool?

The temperature of the pool will be 29.5 degrees (on average) and will remain at this temperature throughout the day. The air temperature in the pool area will usually be one degree higher than the water temperature.
