Indoor cycling is an exercise which takes place on a specially designed stationary bike. It is often referred to as SPINNING ©. The class mimics outdoor cycling activity like sprints, uphill climbs and flat road cycles.
• Great music is played in the class and the instructor talks you through a visualisation generally of an outdoor cycling workout. Pedalling to the beat of the music is great for focusing the mind and body.
• During class the "cadence" or speed, also referred to as revolutions per minute (RPM) and resistance (steepness) are varied and the cyclist may pedal fast as if on a flat road or at other times increasing the resistance, pedalling slowly from a standing position as if heading up a steep hill.
The HIIT Spin class is shorter in duration but higher in intensity. This type of training is very intense but HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) is brilliant for reducing work out time while increasing fat burn. Studies show that your metabolism is raised for 12-48 hours after a HIIT session.
Improve your cardiovascular fitness, burn calories and tone your legs. It’s also a low impact work out so won’t do damage to your joints.
