Reviews of The Spencer Health Club IFSC Dublin
I saw a notice in the changing rooms, asking if we had a good experience, to write a testimonial on TripAdvisor. I have decided to send it in as I personally want to thank you crazy guys for helping and motivating me to live a better more healthy life. Hannah is great and always greats us with a smile, Declan keeps the troops under control and Louise is the sergeant major who makes sure I turn up and do it right !!
For anyone reading, the reason I choose Spencer Health Club is because it is special. I can’t tell you how great it is to get towels provided as it saves me such trouble bringing towels in and out every day, never mind washing them. The dressing rooms are clean and smell good .. this is always non-negotiable for me. The gym has everything I need and then I can top a good day off with a swim, sauna, steam or Jacuzzi. What else could I ask for really.
But what makes the Spencer special is the staff. I love my hour with your guys. Attitude is a small word but makes a HUGE difference. Thanks to the team that makes my visits even more special.
See you tomorrow !!!
Having moved into the IFSC to work a couple of years ago, I needed to re visit gym membership in the Dublin 1 or 2 area where there are numerous gym facilities available. In the search for a competitively priced gym close by with good operating hours, I finally settled for The Spencer Health Club located under the Spencer Hotel on the North Quays. As gyms go, the Spencer Health Club has got all the weights and machines you might need complimented with small and tailored fitness classes. As an added bonus, this gym offers an 18 meter swimming pool together with sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi (all kept CLEAN I might add!) which are unique and rare gym facilities in this area of the city centre. Extra frills available with your membership include free one to one tuition with bespoke programmes / revisited programmes, complimentary towels, shampoos and shower gels and a free coffee making facility!. Finally, Declan, Louise and their staff are very friendly and on first name terms with most established members like myself. More importantly they seem to care, are very professional and go out of their way to advise or correct any technique issues.
If you are looking for a gym in the IFSC / Docklands area that that doesn’t “stack them high” with flexible payment options, compact personal fitness classes, staff that care together with all the “bells and whistles” you would expect from a gym associated with a four star hotel, this really is the place to go!
My name is Suzanne and I've been a member of the gym for a number of years (on and off)
I work full time and have a 4 year old daughter. Life can be very hectic with work and being a parent (like all working parents know only too well) so it's hard to find time for yourself. I'm a cancer survivor for the last 16 years so doctor's orders are to look after myself but this can be difficult when life is so busy and sometimes harder to do the older you get.
So in 2009 I was getting married and had to overcome my phobia of gyms to get in shape for the big day. I found it very difficult for a long time because I certainly wasn't used to doing intense training of any description as i was a complete novice. All of the staff made it easier for me to return each week and I achieved my goal for the big day.
At the moment I try to go to the gym at least 3 days a week and on a really good week I'll go 4 days. Lunchtime is the best for me because it's part of my working day before I go home to start my other job, being a mammy !All the staff in The Spencer Gym are so friendly and they know your capabilities so will push you harder than you might do yourself. Personally that's what I need so it works for me. I'm a strong person and when I commit to something I like to give it my all. Everyone has an off day but once you pass the door to the gym you don't get a chance to think about that and you are pushed hard to reach your potential will never be accused of being a fitness fanatic but I'm very proud of my achievements in the gym, especially over the last 2 / 3 years
I still enjoy my glass of vino at the weekend but am more aware of looking after myself. I have a good life and am happy with my achievements and I can honestly say that going to the gym a few times a week helps me to feel better about myself both mentally and physically
I recommend anyone to try the gym at least once in their lifetime, anything is always possible. You will be surprised what your body will let you do!
I have been a regular member of The Spencer Health Club ever since I arrived in Ireland 14 years ago and I find it excellent as well as being conveniently close to where I work. I am a long distance runner so I use it for strength and conditioning and it has all the equipment I need for that. Plus, the pool is a bonus! I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking around for a good health club in the IFSC area.
Having just recovered from a heart problem, I was very apprehensive about starting in a gym as my fitness levels were very low, but once I started training with Louise in the Spencer Health Club my confidence in myself grew with each session, I trusted her knowledge and expertise greatly. I’ve gone from not being able to walk up a flight of stairs without being out of breath to running 5k while working on my strength and conditioning with personal training, I couldn’t recommend The Spencer Fitness Health Club and its team more, it’s such a friendly encouraging environment.
Louise and the team at the Spencer Health Club are brilliant. I receive regular and varied programmes which are tailored to achieve my specific fitness goals in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
